parenthesis

I read recently that parenthesis are frequently misused (though more frequently overused), and I have to say: poo on that. I love the use of parenthesis (and would probably be viewed as using them too much), however without them, my writing would be boring and flat and way too direct. But I also start sentences with conjunctions, so I guess I am a poor grammatical example.

i am a fan of the ellipsis ... (although parenthesis are nice too) ...
i find that when composing email and texts, ellipsis make fine transitions between clauses ... no need to decide between periods or exclamation marks, commas or semicolons ... burst out an incomplete sentence, throw an ellipsis on the end ...
it's almost as if the ellipsis demands the reader provide their own punctuation ... it says, "there is something missing here, fill in the blanks as you see fit" ... even better is how well they turn a run-on sentence into discrete clauses ... i am quite sure i overuse them, but i don't care ...
